Media and Commercial Counsel
The role is established within the media and commercial arm of the legal function and will focus on the negotiation and drafting of media contracts and agreements which will include, but is not limited to:
Negotiating and drafting media and technical contracts including:
Content acquisition agreements with film studios and other licensors with respect to movies, general entertainment and sporting events.
Third party channel distribution agreements
Sublicensing of rights agreements
Additional rights agreements for the acquisition of digital rights
Satellite Capacity Agreements:
- Programming agreements
- Broadcasting agreements
- Carriage agreements
- Marketing agreements
In addition you will also:
- Advise on intellectual property rights, copyright infringement and trademark matters and to manage registered trade marks
- Work with the programming acquisition team in relation to day to day licensing issues.
- Draft and work on general media agreements
This is a mid-level role that will require a qualified lawyer with at least three to five years' post qualification experience. Individuals with a solid training in private practice, and either in-house media or media practice in a law firm are preferable.
Bilingual Corporate Counsel
With a focus on assisting the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary on a wide range of corporate and governance-related matters, the principal accountabilities of the role will include, but not be limited to:
Advising on and managing, in collaboration with Finance and Tax, structuring goals in the MENA region
Managing corporate law compliance for portfolio of group entities across the MENA region, and providing general corporate secretarial support
Managing operational issues including:
Coordinating and providing support and documents for senior management on local entity shareholder and board matters
Reviewing and advising on insurance, JV, and funding
Due to the nature of the role, a bilingual Arabic/English speaker is a must. The successful applicant must possess a legal qualification and at least three to five years' post qualification experience. Media experience is not essential. Individuals with a solid training and experience in Private Practice are a must, with in house experience as an added benefit.
