Lead Legal Counsel

Exciting recent developments have led to the desire to appoint an ambitious and driven lawyer to lead, manage and develop the EMEA legal team for Motorola’s multi-billion dollar ‘Mobile’ business. Motorola Mobile Devices and Home consists of the company’s mobile devices and home entertainment equipment.

As lead legal counsel, you will report into the general counsel in the United States, and will work closely with the EMEA general manager and senior leadership team on a variety of strategic and operational issues. You will partner with the European sales team, driving best-in-class negotiations and will be responsible for managing a team of lawyers, paralegals and external counsel, as well as managing a legal budget and providing training, as required, across the business.

This is an outstanding opportunity to lead and be part of a growing business. As the successful candidate, you will have a minimum of 10 years’ post qualification experience, although all candidates with relevant skills are invited to apply. Qualified in either a common or civil law jurisdiction, your experience has been gained working in-house, preferably in the telecoms or closely related sector, and familiarity with US legal and regulatory systems will be advantageous. You will be comfortable dealing with legal issues around marketing, finance, IP and sales and have direct management experience. Whilst this is a UK-based role, you will be an integrated member of Motorola’s global legal team, and fluency in at least one language, besides English, is sought.
