Position: Business Conduct Attorney (Compliance Director Brazil)

Location: São Paulo / Brazil

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Brazil, leading the Business Conduct program in Brazil. This role will best be served by someone with experience working as an attorney in the area of compliance, anti-bribery and anti-corruption within the pharmaceutical industry, with an understanding of the promotional laws and regulations and the industry codes applicable in Brazil.

This individual will work under the supervision of the Commercial Legal team in California, and have responsibility for ensuring appropriate and compliant interactions with healthcare professionals, government officials and other third parties by the Brazil organization. The individual will serve as a strategic partner to the business in close collaboration with the Brazil General Manager, Legal Counsel and cross functional groups.

This position is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Some travel in Latin America and to the global headquarters in California is required.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Serve as legal compliance resource for company commercial activities including devising policies and procedures, training and monitoring processes to improve sales and marketing compliance.

  • Appropriately triage a heavy workflow, setting appropriate priorities with clients and delivering results within the reasonable agreed timelines.

  • Demonstrate ability to think creatively and proactively, and devise solutions to challenging problems.

  • Advance a positive spirit of partnership and collaboration with internal clients, internal legal colleagues and outside counsel.

  • Exercise mature and reliable judgment while enjoying the company's enthusiastic, informal and fast-paced environment.

  • This position requires working within a team extensively and accordingly, the ability to work collaboratively and efficiently with others is absolutely critical.   • This is an "in-office" position. While occasional, reasonable requests for telecommuting will be accommodated, a regular out-of-office telecommute schedule is not the company's policy and is not a viable option for this position.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary, including the ability to speak and write clearly and concisely.

  • The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter and will be given increasing responsibility. The ability to competently carry-out and follow through on directives and to learn quickly is expected.

  • The candidate is expected to be proficient at applying legal analysis in a business context.

  • Demonstrating the ability to independently identify issues, goals, needs and solutions will be key for future success.

  • Portuguese and English proficiency required.

  • Must have skills, depth and expertise depending on area(s) of responsibility.

  • Must have demonstrated problem solving skills.

  • Must have a client service orientation and experience and ability to recognize and respond quickly and pragmatically to demanding clients.

  • Have demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

  • 6+ years prior in-house or law firm experience providing legal counsel on the laws and regulations relating to drugs, devices, or food products demonstrating growth and ability to succeed.

  • Pharmaceutical promotional compliance experience preferred

  • LL.B, J.D. or equivalent law degree preferred.
