We are seeking a Corporate Counsel to work in our Latin American region, preferably in our Sao Paulo office. The role will report to the Legal Director of Latam and will be responsible for Corporate, Contracts, and Regulatory Advice in Latin America with a particular emphasis on Brazil, including credit ratings, investment advisor and equity research. This candidate must have significant experience in Commercial Contract, Corporate routine, besides some experience interacting with regulators. The candidate must be a highly motivated team player with superior legal ability, written and oral presentation skills and superior interpersonal and communication skills. Applicant must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish, not negotiable. Portuguese and English are also required.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Works with the Legal team that includes a Regulatory Counsel and other Corporate Counsel staff in the region, reporting to the Legal Director of Latam, developing strategy and advocates with regulators on behalf of our businesses;

  • Provide day-to-day legal advice to management, staff and other stakeholders;

  • Conducts outreach and maintains relationships with regulators, policymakers and industry groups, including attendance and speaking at external meetings and conferences;

  • Administrative tasks associated with the above duties including compiling and updating filed documents and correspondence with regulators and preparing contracts and notes;

  • Liaise with internal/external company secretary and other internal departments as required.


  • Qualified to practice law; Law degree.

  • 3-4 years' legal experience in corporate law area in Latin America;

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to influence others who are not in the same line of authority; demonstrated ability to drive consensus across business groups and deal with challenging situations at all levels of the business in a resilient, confident and practical manner; excellent problem-solving skills informed by deep and varied experience in forging solutions;

  • Excellent presentation, writing and analytical skills in Spanish, Portuguese and English;

  • Exceptional attention to detail;

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;

  • Self-motivated and well organized with the ability to handle multiple, high-priority projects while attending to details; able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure;

  • Hands-on, energetic and a motivated self-starter;

  • Professional demeanor, team player, ability to interface effectively with internal/external parties; and

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
