Our client is a leading energy company operating globally to offer energy solutions that reconcile individual and collective interests through providing a wide range of innovative energy solutions.

A need has arisen to join the legal team of one of the business units, based in the Paris area, in order to provide broad legal support to a diverse product portfolio including structured commodity finance products, complex commodity or derivate contracts, and risk management services on a multi-jurisdictional basis. This would include interacting with clients (both companies and financial institutions on a domestic and international level) and providing commercial legal support for the drafting of a wide range of contracts relating to the business, and legal advice pertaining to the structuring of commodities transactions. Responsibilities would also include liaising with government regulators and self-regulatory organizations as well as overseeing the work with external counsel in managing complex administration and commercial litigation.

The successful candidate will have 4-8 years' demonstrated experience in complex structured finance acquired fully or partially in a law firm environment, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills, tenacity, and sound judgement in when to handle issues autonomously and when to escalate. He/she will also benefit from excellent communication skills and demonstrate intellectual curiosity along with the capacity to share legal and regulatory knowledge in a pedagogical manner. French would be a plus, but is not essential, as would be an LLM in a common law jurisdiction.
