Our client is a customer-focused multinational company operating in the life sciences field, developing, marketing, and manufacturing, a broad range of branded, generic and branded generic pharmaceuticals, OTC products and medical devices, distributed in more than 100 countries, and employing over 18 000 employees worldwide.

The role

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced lawyer to support the French and Benelux activities of the group, taking up a strategic role in the region and sitting on the local management committee. Sitting in the company's offices in the South of France, the successful candidate will act as a key business partner supporting and participating in strategic discussions around products and the businesses. He/she will provide broad legal advice, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, addressing litigation matters, advising on anti-trust and,data privacy issues, as well as pharmaceutical and medical devises law. Further responsibilities will also include advising on corporate secretarial matters and providing corporate governance advice, as well as acting as the regional ambassador for compliance issues, ensuring enforcement and monitoring of company policy, and meeting the relevant compliance reporting obligations.

Profile sought

A minimum of 7 years' relevant experience is required, with exposure to the life sciences industry and the capacity to understand and support diverse businesses. The successful candidate will be a fluent French/English speaker accustomed to working with the designated region, with an understanding of medical devices and OTC products being a plus. He/she will be a self-starter, able to prioritise and promote the legal function within the business and be able to fit into a collegiate, team-friendly environment whilst demonstrating ethical leadership qualities.
